8 Profile Settings
8.1 Overview ¶
The Profile Settings window is the central configuration dialog for a single profile. Here you specify which email accounts and folders are monitored, which emails are to be processed, and which tasks are run on them.
Open: In the profile toolbar, click New Profile, or double-click an existing entry in the profile list.
8.2 Window Layout ¶
The window is divided into two parts: on the left a navigation bar with the available areas, on the right the content of the currently selected area.
| Area |
Description |
| Navigation (left) |
List of all areas and tasks with status information |
| Content (right) |
Settings of the selected area |
Navigation Areas
The navigation is structured into four groups:
| Group |
Content |
| Fixed categories |
General, Monitored Folders, Sample Messages, Message Filter |
| Tasks |
List of tasks assigned to the profile with Add, Remove, Up and Down buttons |
| Special areas |
Notifications, Postponed Processing, Post-Processing |
| Preview |
Result preview for sample messages |
The fixed categories show in parentheses after the name the number of configured items, for example Monitored Folders (2) or Message Filter (3).
8.3 Buttons ¶
Three buttons are available at the bottom of the window:
| Button |
Effect |
| OK |
Saves all changes and closes the window |
| Apply |
Saves all changes, keeps the window open |
| Cancel |
Discards all changes since the last save and closes the window |
Tip: Use Apply if you want to save changes in between without leaving the dialog - for example, to test the Result Preview against sample messages.
8.4 Validation on Save ¶
When you click OK or Apply, the program checks the profile for completeness and consistency. Possible messages include:
- Profile name is missing or already in use
- No monitored folder selected
- A task refers to an account that no longer exists, a deleted printer, or a removed database connection
- A filter condition is missing its value
- A database task has no table mapping
When a message appears, the window automatically switches to the affected category and highlights the faulty field.
8.5 Task Order ¶
The order of tasks in the navigation bar determines the order of execution. Tasks are processed from top to bottom. The order can be adjusted with the buttons up and down.
Tip: Place tasks with an effect on the mailbox (e.g. Forward) toward the end, so they run only if all preceding tasks (e.g. Save Attachments) succeeded.
