6 Log List
6.1 Overview ¶
The log list records every processing of a message by a profile. It is divided into five tabs that group entries by processing result. Each tab shows the total number of entries in its title and - in parentheses - the number of today’s entries:
Successful processing: 124 (+8)
In this example the tab contains 124 entries in total, 8 of which are from today.
6.2 Tabs ¶
6.2.1 Successful Processing ¶
Lists messages that were detected by a profile and processed without errors. An entry appears here when all configured tasks of the associated profile were executed without errors.
6.2.2 Errors ¶
Lists messages where an error occurred during processing. The Details column contains the cause of the error.
Typical error causes:
| Error |
Possible cause |
| Printer not reachable |
Printer offline or not present |
| Target folder not writable |
Path does not exist or permissions are missing |
| Email sending failed |
SMTP configuration or network issue |
| Database error |
Connection lost or column mapping faulty |
| Mailbox not reachable |
Credentials invalid or server outage |
6.2.3 No Match ¶
Lists messages that arrived in a monitored folder but did not meet the filter criteria of the profiles assigned to that folder.
Tip: If messages appear here that should actually be processed, check the filter criteria of the relevant profile. The message can also be added to the profile as a sample message in order to test the filter configuration in the result preview.
6.2.4 Postponed Processing ¶
Shows messages whose processing by a profile with a configured delay is still pending. As soon as the delay has elapsed, the entry moves to one of the three upper tabs.
More information: (see chapter 60.1)
6.2.5 Unreachable Email Folders ¶
Shows monitored folders that were not reachable during the last processing run - for example because the server is not responding, the folder has been deleted or the credentials are invalid. Two buttons are available for each entry:
| Button |
Function |
| Correct… |
Opens a dialog to select another reachable folder from the associated account |
| Show usage |
Lists all profiles that monitor this folder |
Note: As long as a folder is not reachable, the associated profiles are skipped.
6.3 Columns of the Log Entries ¶
The “Successful Processing”, “Errors”, “No Match” and “Postponed Processing” tabs use a unified column layout. The individual values within a cell are shown as a label together with a value so that multi-line content also stays clearly arranged.
6.3.1 Profile ¶
Name of the applied profile. The colored stripe at the left edge of the row shows the profile color. The symbols of the executed tasks appear below the profile name.
For entries under No Match a hyphen is shown here, since no profile was assigned.
6.3.2 Date ¶
Shows two values: Processed (point in time of processing by Automatic Email Processor) and Received (point in time the message arrived in the mailbox).
6.3.3 Email Data ¶
Shows several key data points of the message:
- Sender (name and address)
- Recipient
- Subject
- Number and names of attachments
6.3.4 Details ¶
Additional information about the processing. For successful entries this shows, for example, the executed actions with target path, recipient address or printer name. For error entries it shows the error message. For “No Match” entries a short note on the reason.
6.4 Context Menu ¶
Right-click a log entry to open the context menu:
| Menu item |
Description |
| Open file |
Opens a file saved during processing (e.g. a stored attachment). With several files a submenu appears with all available paths. |
| Show in Explorer |
Opens the folder of the file in Windows Explorer. Here too a submenu is shown for several paths. |
| Copy entry to clipboard |
Copies the row information as text |
| Open profile settings |
Opens the associated profile for editing |
Note: The items Open file and Show in Explorer can only be clicked if the processing produced files (e.g. saved attachments). The item Open profile settings is not available for “No Match” entries, since these are not associated with a profile.
6.5 Retention ¶
Log entries are retained according to the settings under Program Options -> Log (see chapter 40.20). By default, entries for successful processing are kept for 90 days and “No Match” entries for 30 days. Older entries are removed automatically.
Tip: If you want to keep individual entries permanently, export them before the retention period expires via Export Log as CSV… or the Excel report.
6.6 Tips for Log Analysis ¶
If several entries show the same error, a systematic problem is often the cause: check the profile settings, network connections and server reachability as well as the write permissions on target folders and databases.
